Minor Changes to AdSense Ads but Affect Publishers Earning Directly

I've been notified by Joel Comm today that Google has made a little changes to their AdSense ads to reduce the number of accidental clicks of AdSense ads.

AdSense Contextual ads consists of four elements:
  • A title
  • A description
  • An URL and
  • A backgroud (the surrounding areas for the ads)
Before the changes, the visitors can click any of the above elements of the AdSense ad to visit the advertiser site. But after the new changes, visitors can now only reach the advertisers sites by clicking only the title or the URL of the ads, the ad description and the surrounding areas of the ad can no longer be clicked. I pointed my mouse to Joel's AdSense ads when reading his blog this morning. Yes, it is true, the description and the background are no longer clickable.

Now the question is will this new changes affect the revenue of the AdSense publishers. I believe they will. Probably a very small part of AdSense earning of many publishers are coming from accidental clicks of AdSense ads by visitors. So with this new changes took place, the publishers may experience a very little drop of AdSense. And so publishers shouldn't worry about this new changes as they will not obstruct you from earning more from AdSense. As long as you grow your traffic, you'll get more AdSense revenue as usual.
