I got an email from Google AdSense team this morning informing me that Google will soon retiring their existing feature, Adsense Referrals. The AdSense Referrals allow publishers to display cost-per-action (CPA) Google ads and earn commission when a visitor click through a CPA ad to an advertiser site and completed a desired action on the advertiser's site. The desired action can be a sale, lead or a sign up.
The AdSense Referrals will end during the last week of August. I expect that the end of AdSense Referrals will not affect much the earning of most publishers since they are not many publishers relying it to generate income.
The end of AdSense Referrals is the born of Google Affiliate Network. In the email, Google also introduced their new release of Google Affiliate Network which is designed to be an alternative of AdSense Referrals. Just like AdSense Referrals program, the Google Affiliate Network lets publishers to apply for advertiser programs, display ads and get paid based on advertiser-defined actions.
